This article discusses the author's journey in participating in national student speech competitions and highlights the valuable learning experiences gained throughout the process. Speech competitions served as an effective platform to strengthen public speaking, critical thinking, research, scriptwriting, and interpersonal communication skills. With continuous support from lecturers, mentors, friends, and the STARKI academic community, the author successfully competed at the national level and earned both bronze and gold medals. The article also explores different types of speech events, effective speech preparation strategies, and the importance of storytelling in delivering impactful presentations. Beyond the achievements, the experience demonstrates that success in public speaking is built through dedication, consistent practice, confidence, and a willingness to step beyond one's comfort zone. The author encourages students to embrace speech competitions as opportunities for personal growth, professional development, and lifelong learning.
